Concerning using the auto populate

Concerning using the auto populate

Hi Chops,

I have created a new roster for the guild which lists our current members with raiding rank and higher, and is looking at using this with the auto populate when scheduling.

I have run into a few issues, and hope you can help out:

All questions are asked when using the recurring event feature.

1) when linking to a roster I have created will it then auto update when I add/remove members to the roster?

2) as it is now it will show all members as approved, can I avoid this to say awaiting approval which would be prefered?

3) when doing this approach I need to select their individual role. this is great but sadly it doesn't remember my setting, so is there any place where members can specify their role?

4) I can't work with secondary roles - so I can't add who will be raid leaders and so on. Also a very wird thing is that it keeps tracking a normal member as the raid leader if I do set the event category to having a raid leader (this guy is named taranquill, so it seems completly random and not abc or rank wise)

5) when inviting a new member to the guild and giving him the right rank will the website then auto add them to the roster, or is it needed to manually do this?

I hope you can help me with the above questions

/Misen
Hello again chops,

I've found out a few things while messing with it.

When using the above and adding a new member to the site it will auto add them to the event, this means that every time the roster gets a change it will instantly show it in the event. Again it will just add the member randomly so the role setting needs to be done manually by editing the created event.

The roster thingy is also messing up a bit:

I have created some rules on how the raid roster should be build using the auto add members where there is the include/exclude rules.

An annoying thing is though that the roster is not auto updated when I promote/demote a member on the website. As it is now I therefore have to run each rule manually by Edit and submit it again.

It would be awsome if the website could do this by it self, or if you made a feture saying update rosters, so we don't have to manually run each rule.

If I'm missing something please let me know, and I hope you can find time to reply to the above questions aswell.

/Misen

/Edit: I have found a few members missing on my raid roster, and can't really explain why they are not there, as they have the right rank on the website, and others with the same ranks are listed.

Can you look into this please - the two I have found missing on the raid roster are called: Connected and Fiddefisk
Another issue that pops up:

When I look at my raiding roster in the roster menu, it says I have 45 members in it. When looking at the event linking to that roster two bugs/issues are shown.

1) when members select they will not be attending, it correctly lists them as confirmed absentees, but it doesn't remove them in the role listing above. You can see this for yourself if you click on the raids starting from the 10th of August and forwards.

2) and a bit more wird is that there should be 45 members that should auto added but it only signs 42 members?!

I'm looking into these issues for you, and will get some answers to you soon.

Yes

With the auto-populate, I'm afraid not currently.

You don't necesasrily need to specifiy a role for them, it's merely a role override. If none is selected, then it checks the character profile for their preferred role, and if none is selected there, it randomly selects a role.

You can sepcify your preferred role by clicking the "Edit" button on your character profile page.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. You would likely specify Raid leaders then in the description, as there is no "Raid Leader" field.

If you are using the roster rules, this can automatically add characters to the roster.

If you have the player choose a preferred role, that will alleviate the random role assignment.

Sounds like you found a bug. I assume you were promoting them via the "Rank Challenge" Alert, correct? This bug has been closed (as of this morning).

Connected: The inclusion rule only accepts mains, and Connectedias marked as an alt.
Fiddlefisk: Fiddlefisk has Frostwhisper selected as his server I'll be adding an "Eligible Servers" option because users selecting the wrong server is pretty common).

I'm tracking these two bugs right now and should have answers in the next hour or two.

Alrighty. Those two bugs are fixed now.

The first one had to do with characters that no longer existed. So while the roster said it had 45 people on it, 3 of those characters had previously been deleted, so that page was falsely reporting the number. It's been fixed to reflect the proper number

The second bug had to do with the signup list being autopopulated after a character had been marked as absent. It wasn't comparing the lists right, and was ignoring those absentees, and when the auto signup list was recalculated, simply re-added them.

Both of these are fixed. For any events that have members showing in both places, just move them to the "Absentee" list and they shouldn't come back.

I'm not sure I am using this, so can u explain this part?

Today each members rank is usually updated when I upload the roster - but the roster and the character rank is not the same as far as I can see?
A tiny bug I've found is that when a member have no preffered raid role it auto selects one, but it doesn't swap them around if they go and select a role after an event have been created.

Example: char named Appledin had no pre selected raid role - he was therefore signed as a healer.

He then went and edited his character so the preffered role was melee dps - but he is still listed as healer!

Have him to retract his signup and then sign up again. His new role should auto-populate in the dropdown.

That obviously works, but I agree with Misen in that it should, if the signup role is unchanged (and not administratively assigned), automatically shift.

But for the moment, that's how he'll have to change his signup.
