Description:
I have a menu group which contains menu items that are only available to officers.

I was expecting that when a non-officer logs in, the entire menu group would not be visible, but at this point the header is still there.

Is my only option to wrap it with an IfRank tag?

At the moment, you are correct. This is one of the reasons we recommend using <!--System:Menus--> rather than <!--System:Menu-->
