Description: I have a few questions re. the Roles based signup mechanism: 1. Is there only one Role setup? I can imagine wanting more than one and selecting the setup by name. 2. What happens to existing raid and signups if I change the role make up? E.g. if I delete a role or collapse it into another, what happens to signups in that role? 3. What happens if I switch a Raid from Role based to Class based? Thanks!

You can achieve this using the Event Categories (link in the admin panel).



I can't answer this with any confidence, but I believe that if you were to do that, the "old" role would disappear and the "new" role would appear with no signups in it.




If you do this with an event that already had signups, you would be unable to view those signups. The display will switch to class based but will not retain anyone's info - they will need to retract their signup, and then sign up again.

No, you don't understand. There one configuration for Roles. I know that. What I was wondering is whether there could by multiple role configurations.

For Kara, I might go with this:

Tanks, Melee DPS, Casters, Ranged, Healers, Shackles

But for a 25-man, I might go more detailed:

Warrior Tank, Pally Tank, Druid Tank, Fire Mage, Etc.

But as it stands now, there is only one config for this.

Admittedly, I'm not completely sure what you're requesting just yet but I'm going to take a stab at what I think you want:

You can create as many roles as you wish, but you certainly don't need to use every role for every raid. So you could create all the roles you listed:

Tanks, Melee DPS, Casters, Ranged, Healers, Shackles, Warrior Tank, Pally Tank, Druid Tank, Fire Mage

And then when you create an event category, only specifiy a min and max for the roles you care about for that particular event. So say, you make a "Kara" event category and a "25-man" category: Then for the Kara event, only specify a min and max for the roles you listed: Tanks, Melee DPS, Casters, Ranged, Healers, Shackles ("Shackles" is recommended as a secondary category)

Then for the 25-man roles, just ignore the roles you use for Kara, and specify the mins and maxes for Warrior Tank, Pally Tank, Druid Tank, Fire Mage (I'd recommend adding a secondary category for "Fire /Dest Spec" which could be applied to the Mages and Locks).

No, I don't entirely understand.

To see if we're on the same page here, I used the demo site to create a Karazhan raid with the roles "Tanks, DPS, Healers" and "shackles". Then I created a 25-man raid with the roles "Warrior tank, druid tank, fire mage". They are listed for today, April 21st at 1pm and 3pm if you want to take a look.

Good call on the demo, Nitesbane. That's exactly how I would recommend configuring it, given my understanding of Quaiche's requirements.

Okay I understand now.

I didn't realize that by clearing the minimum and maximum number if prevented it from showing up on the signin sheet. Dumb on my part.

My idea was to have preset role configurations so when I do a Kara run and know that I want the "Kara Role Config" which may be simple "tanks, melee, healers, etc.". But when I set up SSC or TK I might want the "25-man Role Config" which is more detailed.

The idea was to have presets of roles that go together for certain situations.

But I can make this work. Thanks!
