Hiya,

I want my members when the create events on our calendars to be able to assign a category to their event. I have set up the categories I want for them. But they can't assign a category to their event without having admin rights which gives them the ability to add categories and edit categories which I rather they don't have. Is there a way around this that I missed?

Currently, there isn't. The Event categories, in their current form, are reserved for "Official" guild events, hence requiring administrative access to create those events.
