[ANN] New IP Address for Full Domain Names

TL;DR Version:

If you're using a full domain with DKPSystem.com, you'll need to update your domain name's DNS settings to point to a new address.

Old Address: 208.100.30.200
New Address: 69.164.193.185

I will keep the old address alive until November 15th, but then I'll be pulling the plug on it, and it'll go dark, and the new address will be required. This should give you sufficient time to get it all straightened out.

Full Version:

Some of you have been with me since I did my first data center migration in 2007, which resulted in about 8 hour of downtime. Back then, before virtual hosting was an affordable option, DKPSystem ran on a cluster of 10-12 phsyical servers. There was another data center migration a few years ago, which went even more smoothly than the first one and only required about an hour or two of downtime. Since then, I've been slowly pruning the physical servers in favor of transitioning to virtual servers.

I'm happy to announce that as of this morning, the last physical server has finally been decommissioned, and the whole operation is running on Virtual Private Servers.

While the previous migrations were quite smooth, requiring minimal downtime, this last migration was done with a live migration. For the previous few weeks, I've been tinkering with trying to do a live migration, and things seem stable enough to pull the trigger.

While in the previous migrations, I was driving around Chicago, hauling servers in the back seat of my car, this migration was conveniently able to be done from the comfort of my living room!

DKPSystem is now running on better hardware and I believe you'll notice some speedier requests.

So if any oddities pop up, please let me know.

The important thing to note with all of this, however, is that the IP address has changed. I will keep the old one up and alive until November 15th, and November 16th, I will shut the old IP address off. The New IP Address isn't nearly as aesthetically pleasing as the old one, but it is what it is. The new address is: 69.164.193.185

Thanks,

-Jesse

It's all in the reflexes.
I've kept the old relaying server alive for way longer than expected, but it's now set to an informative message to inform you of the impending change.

In a few days, that server will be taken offline permanently. Anyone still using that IP address will definitely know if they're misconfigured.

That server has been taken offline, and the IP address configured to a simple redirect to this thread.
