For some reason, every guild member I approve for access to the web site is defaulted to "Guild Master" rank. I have installed the guildbankuploader utility, and the guild roster has all the correct ranks. However when you bring up the member manager, it shows all the newly added members as guild master. Also, when you bring up the character screen, it shows guild manager. Is there any way to have new members' ranks imported from the roster? Is there at least a way to not have new members default to guild master?

Head to Admin > Ranks, and you'll see what happened.

Your top rank on your website is "Guild Leader" while I assume your rank in-game is "Guild Master." The text must match exactly. As a result, it auto-created thje "guild Master" rank on your website, but it doesn't know the order of the ranks, so Guild Master rank is given at the bottom.

Simply fix your ranks, and you won't see these issues anymore.

Thanks. DKPSystem is a lot more configurable than our last guild host, and I'm still trying to figure out some of the options.

I have removed all the ranks that differ from actual guild ranks and ordered them appropriately. Newly added members now default to probationary (which is good), but I'm wondering if there is any way to automatically sync the website ranks with the guild roster.

It's not terribly difficult to set everybody's rank the first time, but keeping up with promotions and demotions might be a bit tedious. Does this functionality exist?

Yes, after uploading your roster, there's the option for "Would you like to synchronize the website accounts with the newly update roster?"

Thank you so much for your help. I just have one more question. When I do a roster upload and have it sync the stats, it gets caught up on one of our members who has two character profiles. He has two toons in the guild, and they are two different ranks. Whichever rank he's set as, it sees the conflicting character and asks to change his rank. If I accept, it sees the other character as conflicting and asks to change it. If I accept, the process starts over in an endless loop. If at any time I cancel, it negates all rank updates.

Basically this one member is preventing any ranks from being automatically updated. The easy solution is obviously to have him delete the character profile for the lower rank toon, but I just wanted to know if this is a bug or something you should know about.
