Hi Chops,

We've recently had a significant guild change and as a result... you know how it goes. People come and go. So, we've had some high dkp players leave the guild, while this in itself isn't an issue with regards to dkp... they came back and are now back at the top of the standings causing much heartburn where members who stayed are concerned.

Here's what we're thinking. Decay during absence, so the longer they're gone the more their dkp decays.

However, we DON'T currently use Decay for the active membership. Do you think there is a way of implementing something like this that when a character is classified as a "former guildie" the decay starts (and can be defined as you have currently set up in the system) but if they return, the decay halts at where ever they are and any subsequent dkp is a full value.

Any other idea's are very welcome as well! I appreciate your time and effort!

I found that when I would mark their accounts as either retired and "Not in the guild" their DKP would reset to Zero.

It should most definitely NOT do that. It'll take them off the standings, but it won't delete any raid attendance unless you actually delete the character.

As for the "Decay upon absence" issue, at I'm afraid there isn't a mechanism for that at the moment, but you could always do a manual decay with adjustments. It's a bit more work, but it's a way of accomplishing that.

Actually it doesn't reset to 0. They just don't appear on your standings or roster if you have it set that way.

However, if they return... all that gloryious dkp is reinstated as well and they're sitting fat and happy back on the top of the heap.

While I don't want to make them start from scratch, I'd like it to hurt a little.

I appologize for that, We had three people just rejoin the guild, two it appears never got DKP or the DKP they got probably decayed, while the third hasn't raided with use yet since he has been back. So it confused me.

So is the only way to rest it, to delete the character?

Quit the guild, then waltz right back in like everything is cool... NOT, i would as soon as they leave, distribute their points to the rest of the guild members that are actively raiding... and when he comes back (cause he could find what he was looking for) his points are reset to zero... so sorry... i promote loyalty in the guild, and everyone is down with that rule. Sounds mean, but it is like quit a job, to look for a better one cant find one so, you come back to your old one expecting the same position...

This is the reason that I do this:
Before importing grss each day, do a roster update
At the bottom you can pretty much tell who left the guild since the last time.
I delete them...so you loose their history - so what, they're nothing to you now.

I understand where you're going with this but we've had some who /gquit over a misunderstanding and were back in 2-3 days... in the meantime we've raided and they've lost all their dkp? OUCH.

That isn't what I want to accomplish! The breakup was difficult and we've reformed and are doing very well.. but those who took their time coming back should feel an effect but not a complete wipe!

Then they should have handled the situation a little more maturely... perhaps, not being snooty, just sounds a bit childish

Granted it isn't perfect but what I do is Disable there account for 1 week. When that week is up if they haven't repetitioned to rejoin the guild I then delete the account.

Jack Burton: Terrific, a six-demon bag. Sensational. What's in it, Egg?
Egg Shen: Wind, fire, all that kind of thing!
Yeah, I hear ya and maybe I'm a softie but we just want to let their dkp dribble away...

Decay is such an appropriate word... hehe

Is there an easy mechanism you use to keep track of this? Like I had said before I can check on the roster upload if they're gone, but how do you keep track of someone being gone for a week before laying down the axe?
and alternatlively you could distribute thier points amongst everyone else as well.

Typically there is an Officer online or we get a post from the individual when they GQUIT. We disable the account immediately. Weekly I look at the Account logs and it shows things like when they last logged on. It doesn't show an edit tracking though for when account was disabled so I really just kind of wing it. Since I am looking at it once a week the next time I look I just delete accounts that are in disabled status.
