Is there any information stored with our sites in cookies or somewhere that the html can access?

What I am thinking is :

The Splash screen loads ... and looks for cookie information (truthfully I don't even know that much about cookies, or if this is even possible ...)

It then changes the link of the splash screen to point to an appropriate page ...

For example : A new user, who is visiting for the first time could be sent to a dynamic "Welcome" page with instructions ... a little guild history ... whatever else you might want them to know ...

Where as a person with the rank of raider could be sent to the DkP page ...

Or a guild member could be sent to the news page ...

Or an officer could be sent ... i dont know, somewhere >.> ... lol
