My site design has been stable since last August.

Then after weeks of deliberation I go and make one small change by removing  ... and re-upload it.

It nukes the entire site. How? It's the same layout.

So then in a panic I pick a drop-in template.

Did you make changes to the live site that wouldn't be reflected in the downloaded layout.html?

It's looking normal to me. Did you fix it, or find out what the problem was?

I spent 4+ hours yesterday modifying the CSS for the wow drop-in template to get it similar to how mine looked.

I'm not going back to mine after all that if secret changes can just undo advanced editing. I'll just stick with the CSS edits to drop-in. My only real complaints are that I can't center it (needs a <div> in the <body> that contains the entire page so I can't) and the fact that the border around the logo can't actually be changed via the CSS.

Sorry mate. I'm not sure what exactly has changed since you deployed it, but if you upload your one here that wasn't working, I'll gladly troubleshoot it for you.
