I know that there's a thread in here in which the IE7 difficulties with the WoW Advanced Layout Template are identified (limited transparent PNG support), and have a question regarding that.

I am in the process of moving my entire guild over to a new site here on dkpsystems. All of my testers love the WoW template, except for my stuck-in-the-stone-age IE7 users who get the previously identified problems.

Is there any workaround I can plug into my CSS or layout files to correct this? I tried replacing the png files with gifs, but that resulted in some really wonky menu display issues that I couldn't figure out.

On a slightly unrelated note, I'm interested in adjusting the layout to create a third column (like this layout) on the right to put the calendar in. I'm not terribly fond of it's default location, but I'm not code-savvy enough to figure this out.

As they like to say, I know enough code to be dangerous (aka, I'm a mediocre HTML user, and can edit existing code decently, but creation is out-of-the-box for me, hehe). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I assume you mean IE6, when you say IE7 (IE7 is the new browser that supports PNG transparency).

The solution isn't easy (or maybe I haven't thunk out of the box enough).

It would require putting a div behind the divs with an alpha transparency color, rather than an image. It can be done, but, like I said, isn't exactly easy.

As for adding the column, that should work just fine. The thing to look out for though (and the reason I didn't put the second column on the WoW template) is putting a second column pretty much requires users to be running in a resolution higher than 1024x768, otherwise the center content gets too squished.

Actually, it's the IE7 users that are reporting that the page appears to "reload" every time they scroll a little bit.
