In firefox it seems to look ok, however in Internet explorer, things are getting cut off..

anyidea what i can do to fix this our site is...

This is a problem attributed to IE, specifically. It doesn't like the resizing and scrolling very effectively. What I recommend doing is making the one particularly large image on your news page smaller. What other pages are experiencing this?
