Sometimes I want a news post but don't want people replying to it.

Can we get a way to lock a news post, so the add a comment feature is disabled?

Right now, I've found I can reply to it myself and it creates a thread on the forums. Then I can goto the thread, delete my post and lock the thread there. Then when someone tries to add a comment and clicks submit, it tells them they cannot comment since it is locked. A more direct method to getting this accomplished would be awesome.
