I noticed that you have an item cache to do the linking to. Are you running that on a local server, or are those linked to an outside source?

I have a need for a local item cache, but I do not know where to go about looking for one.

The items are retrieved from thottbot and then stored locally on the server.

What do you have in mind?

I want to be able to do something similar for a project I am working on. How do you retrieve the items and then store them? Is it on demand, or do you download all of them and then store them in a DB? I am just curious.

It's on demand.

There's a 2 step process when retrieving items

1) Look for exact item name matches. If no matches, then
2) Look for partial name matches (ie Zin)
