Someone on our site created a private message, but before anyone could read it, deleted the message. Now we have users that get the "join private thread" red button on the bottom, but when they click on it, the page doesn't list any private tags. Hitting cancel or submit does nothing.
This happened to me with a new application, too. I deleted it and others still saw the alert that there was a new application pending, but when clicking the link, nothing was there.
