I just got my guild's website up and now the thing ahead of me is to design a very nice outlook for the website like those shown in Featured Guild Sites. I have been trying to play around with the CSS and html templates that I downloaded but it seems like there's nothing much I can do about it. I'm not an expert of HTML or CSS user. Anyone can show me examples of how to get it done via any editor e.g. Frontpage or CSS editor?
Unfortunately, it's not going to be easily done with Frontpage or generally any kind of Editor in particular.
Because of the degree of flexibility allowed for this, you're almost certainly going to need to do hand HTML coding, which will take some time, if you're not familiar with it.
I'll say that I do have some intentions on making a much more elaborate guide to building your site with the Advanced Layout Options, however, it's going to assume you know HTML, by providing examples without thorough explanation.
I'm not an expert on HTML and CSS but at least I know the simple knowledge of it. If there are some examples that I can refer to or work on, I believe I will be able to get it done. Thanks Chop for yr reply and I do hope to get my website done up asap.
That revert back to original button saved my ass. Anyway, for some reason not apparent to myself, everytime I modify the layout.html file and re-upload it, it loses the page formatting. No colors, font styles, etc...
Is there something obvious that i'm overlooking? Maybe I'm just not grasping the concept here. I'm fairly proficient with html.
I think when you use the advanced layout files (html and css) it overrides the simple layout options you set. so i think you need to set your colors and stuff in the css or directly in the html since the simple layout stuff gets overriden when using advanced options.
What I suggest doing is instead of clicking the "Current File" link, then going "File > Save As", just right click the link and "Save Target As" for IE, or "Save Link As" for Firefox.
That'll give you an unadultered version (when you do "Save As" from File, it tries to copy all the linked files and moves them into a folder on your desktop, then changing all the links in the code)
Yay!!! Another Google King thats not ashamed to admit it
