The forums are not yet as customizable as one might want them to be. Chops is working on enhancements to allow layout changes to the forums. Until these changes are implemented I don't believe there is any way to hide the "favorites" marker.

If your seeing it directly on someone site then you may want to ask that Operator directly.
However look at my site. I know for a fact that I have the Favorites marker showing. But it only shows up for Members that are logged into my site therefore I still believe there is no way to disable this. You are simply not seeing the option on there sites when you look at them because you don't have permission to see it.

I have looked at 15 different sites on DKPSystem and none of them show a Favorites marker. I am not a member of any of them so I can not log in to get full forum access.
Log out of your own site and go to your forums and see if it shows or not.

The Favorite buttons disable when you aren't logged in. So when you go to someone elses's site, you're probably not creating an account and logging in.
There is currently no way to disable this, however if you wish to tweak the colors, you can do this from the Basic Color Configurator.
